Book Promotion

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Publishing your book takes some work, and it doesn’t end after you have the actual printed copy in your hand. After all you still need to get your book out into bookstores, onto radio and television programs and into the hands of your ideal readers. Below are some of ways that are effective to do just that!

Get an author website.  One of the most important things that authors fail to do is build a web site that attracts targeted visitors to their site. It is crucial to build a site that not only allows the visitor to purchase your book but also provide your contact information, you never know who may want to be in touch for an interview!

Write a press release. A press release is a one-page description of your book that will (hopefully)create interest in your story. If you are planning to write your own release be sure to make sure you make it interesting to draw in readers. Not sure if you did it right? Have your release ‘graded’ at Press Release Grader. Then submit your press release online and it will be distributed to media outlets around the world and appear on web sites and in print.

Get Book Reviews. You probably know that it is important to have positive reviews of your book, but where to start? Search online for web sites and groups that address the target audience for your book. Visit their sites and see if they publish book reviews. Contact the owner of the web site to see if the would be willing to review your book!

These are just a few things you can do to get started promoting your book. However, you are never limited on ways to get the word out about your book. Do your research and explore-the online world is full of opportunities.

Audio books are the hottest thing in the book market right now and the popularity of audio books is growing exponentially. Getting a book published in audio is not as expensive as one may think.  Blooming Twig offers authors many ways of inexpensively recording their audio book while still maintaining their reputation of delivering Grammy-quality audio. They assist with editing, mixing and audio mastering. As with all their services, they walk you through every step in the process.  In addition, they work with authors at the close of audio production to develop a marketing strategy, and can continue to walk through the process of getting exposure and publicity in advance of the audio book’s release. They offer distribution through itunes, and dozens of other digital sites online, and can also help to broaden the traditional audio book base. They focus on several different aspects of publicity.

From market and media research, continual contact to the online media, website marketing, internet advertising methods and internet networking  Blooming Twig offers many choices in audio book packages and work with all budgets, from basic to professional actor recorded audio books. How To Hook The Press

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

People that work for the press all across the country spend half of their time digging through pile after pile of news stories to find that one gem that they go on to publish.

Unfortunately, that stack of news is the chief way to get through to the media on a daily basis. The pile is full of press releases, thousands of which either cross the emails and flat-screen computer monitors of countless reporters each day.

How do you get noticed in that big mass of media?

The answer isn’t exactly simple, but with a few weeks and months of honing your skills at this, you will get the knack, and start to see some great results! First, in creating your press release, do your research! Check out what all of the releases from the big book companies look like, and imitate them, but make yours unique in some way. Make your release short, but to the point! Don’t anticipate that anyone will read more than the first line, so make that one short, sweet, and precise! Then, as in fly fishing (where you aim for a specific point on the water where think the fish will surface), aim for specific targets within that giant media pile!

Aim for your target genre. If you write about fishing, make sure  to include the word “fishing” many times in your press release – it will float to the top if a reporter searches for “fishing.”

Second, aim for your target location. If you want to have a speaking gig in your local area, make sure that your area has some key words in the body of your release, i.e. “Tulsa, Oklahoma…”

Places To Post Your Release

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Now that you have this great press release, you want to show it to the world. But how and where? Around the web, there are many free and pay sites that feature press releases, and where you can upload press releases every day. Don’t put the same press release in the mix every day – change it, depending on the season, the gig you are looking for, the way you want the media to see you…

Keep tailoring the release until you start having feedback of the sort you are aiming for!

Post To Your Website/Blog

Post the release to any territory you own online – your website, blog, podcast, MySpace account…

Submit To Other Sites and Aggregators…

First, ask all of your online friends to add the release to their sites… Then, start doing more research online, looking for sites similar to yours, that might be interested in trading press releases – you post theirs, they post yours… Or, look for aggregators online that are looking for the kind of information that’s in your release… Search around on your favorite search engine, and you will find millions more suggestions for, and examples of, press releases!

(Free) Press Releases

Friday, February 15th, 2008

Tip #1

No need to pay for press releases…There is no need to spend money on press releases –there are dozens of places online to post your press releases and have them submitted to thousands upon thousands of interested reporters… If you take care in putting the release together, and make sure it is directed to the right niche audience, you are doing exactly what a publicist would do!

Tip #2

Only trust yourself…Don’t trust another company to put together your press release, or to know who you should be marketing to (unless they are a very reliable company that you have paid to consult with you)… Be strong in your opinions…

Tip #3

Do good research…The internet is your best library to use as a how-to for press releases. Simply type “press release” into a search engine, and you will receive hundreds of fantastic responses!

Tip #4

Use a standard format, and keep it concise…The press release is an art form of sorts – the best ones are very short, and extremely to the point…

Tip #5

Make sure it’s directed towards something specific. Make sure that your press release is very specific. Target the cities on your author tour!
