Manuscript Development Services

Does everyone tell you that you need a book?

Have your finished manuscript in hand within 90 days.

We make it easy for you.

We aren’t your run of the mill “Ghost Writers”.

We work with authors from A to Z, using many different methods of collaboration. If you have an outline, we start there. If you have a chapter or two, we work from that… We have the most reasonable rates in the industry, and will work with you, one on one, to guarantee your satisfaction. We won’t stop working until we do!

Every step of the way, we consult with our clients one one one. If you have concerns, we are available by email or telephone any day of the week. We make the entire process simple, and customize each step of the process to your needs as an author.

Building the Skeleton

Building the skeleton is where the fun begins. We work with each author in great depth to search out the real “backbone” of the manuscript. This process includes extensive discussions about branding, flow, and marketing strategies.

Fleshing out your Text

The fleshing-out period should only be started after the spine has been well constructed. This writing phase is hard work, but proceeds steadily, chapter by chapter, page by page. We work in a collaborative process, in a number of ways. For example, if an author has already written several chapters, and would like us to write in like fashion, we work on that. If an author has little time to get into the nitty-gritty of typing, we can take dictations and work from those. If a teacher or speaker is writing a book, we will likely take lectures and speeches and modify them for use in the book. And, all text can easily be expanded with targeted research campaigns.

Copy and Content Editing

After we have put your book together, the hard work isn’t over! We go through an intensive and extensive copy and content editing process, with or without the author’s involvement (according to their preference). This leads to the final stage of Skeleton writing…

We have a house full of editors, and are waiting to work hard and long on early and final editing, both copy and content. The most important element of a book in the open market is that it be as flawless as possible! We can work with you many different ways, from typos to helping you develop and expand your stories.

Creative Editing.

Creative Editing is a concept that most publishing companies don’t work on in their raw editing process. We look through your book with you, and suggest changes, paths, and much more, to the goal of creating a beautiful finished product.

Content Editing.

Content Editing is something that should take place before copy edit. Content editing often tears the book to pieces (so to speak), carefully analyzing whether a certain chapter makes sense, whether the book has good direction and flow… We will provide very constructive criticism.

Copy Editing.

Copy Editing covers all the little nitty-gritty elements of grammar. Our copy editors, every day, work on manuscripts, copiously reading each word to look for typos before a long print run! And, a period here, a comma there, and the book is off to a great start!

Typesetting.

Typesetting is the mysterious last stage in the process of editing, getting the manuscript ready for sending to the book printer. Making pages even, adding artwork on page headers and footers, and on chapter and title pages…

Finalizing your Manuscript.

After we have worked with you from A to Z on Skeleton-writing your book, we make sure that it has all final touches, before you send it out for review, to agents, or for publication. We would also be happy to help you put together a query letter to publishers and agents.

Research.

We have a team that can get into archives, journals, and on the web, and flesh out your book with details, whether medical or fiction, music or politics… Tell us what you need, or we can suggest a direction for our targeted research.
